With so many classic foods being "veganised", it was only a matter of time until vegan pizza became available in supermarkets - and we're so glad it did! It used to be the case that vegans had to buy plain dough bases and add the toppings themselves, but luckily there are now loads of delicious options around. The only problem is, it can be hard to tell which plant-based pizzas actually taste good and which ones are better left on the shelf.
That's why we've put together this invaluable guide alongside a list of recommendations to buy at Tesco, Asda, and Waitrose. Whether you're looking for a simple cheese and tomato-topped treat or a gluten-free base with a variety of veggies, we've selected some mouth-watering products by brands like Wicked Kitchen, Pizza Express, Chicago Town, and The White Rabbit Pizza Co. We've really thought outside of the (pizza) box on this one!

When shopping for a vegan pizza online, there's plenty of types to choose from. You'll want to think about factors such as the sauce, toppings, and of course, the crust. If you follow our buying guide, you'll be sure to find the perfect pizza!
If you like your pizza crust Italian-style, go for a thin and crispy base. Slightly lighter and providing a bit more crunch, a thin crust lets the sauce and toppings take centre stage and makes the experience less of a carb overload, whilst still being filling.
Or for a healthy treat, why not try a seeded sourdough base? This gives the pizza a firmer, crispier texture but is also delightfully soft inside. It also means you won't feel too guilty after indulging in a few slices!
Equally as important when it comes to flavour are the toppings. If your pizza of choice is a Margherita, there isn't too much to think about as it's just tomatoes with a sprinkling of cheese. We recommend a coconut-based "mozzarella" for a satisfyingly melty cheese-like topping.
There are many other exciting options out there, though, with toppings like jackfruit and soya protein being popular substitutes for meat. Falafel is another tantalising ingredient that brings something new to the table - it's packed with flavour! Vegetables like mushrooms and olives are also great for adding a bit of texture to your pizza.
There really are a lot of options out there these days for vegans, especially if you can eat soy and gluten without any issues. However, if you do have an intolerance to one or more of these ingredients, don't worry - we've hunted out a few incredibly tasty vegan pizzas that are also gluten-free and soy-free.
Mozzarella made from coconut rather than soy will be suitable for everyone, so you don't have to miss out on the cheesy goodness! Likewise, buckwheat, tapioca, or rice-based flour can be used to make pizza crusts these days, so those on a gluten-free diet can still enjoy a slice or two.

In at first place is this mouthwatering pizza from Wicked Kitchen, which really stands out from the crowd! The seeded sourdough base is paired with sun-dried tomato sauce, deconstructed pumpkin seed pesto, a soy-free mozzarella alternative, and spicy oyster mushrooms.
Loaded with vegetables and herbs, plus a good level of spice, we think this product will really wow you. It's also pretty large for the price, so you certainly get your money's worth. This is a plant-based pizza that can't be topped!
If you adore pizza but want something slightly more nutritious, The Vegan Gardener is perfect. Topped with sun-dried tomatoes, "MozzaRisella" (cheese made from germinated rice), crunchy kale, and basil pesto, it's healthy while still feeling like a treat.
Best of all, this pizza is gluten-free and soy-free, with the base being made from a mixture of rice, maize, buckwheat, and quinoa. The packaging is also 100% recyclable and 98% plastic-free - ideal for those trying to stick to a zero-waste lifestyle!
Pizza Express supermarket products are intended to taste just like those from their restaurant - and the Classic Vegan Giardiniera is no different! It's expertly topped with vegan mozzarella, spinach, red onion, artichokes, garlic mushrooms, and olives.
Extremely fresh-tasting vegetables, plenty of herbs, and a thin, crispy base make the Giardiniera a brilliant choice. Although it's usually a fiver, it's currently available at Waitrose with a third off the RRP - even better!
One of the cheapest options on our list, and lacking fancy packaging, this pizza by Asda could easily be overlooked and left on the shelf - but it definitely shouldn't be!
Skipping vegan cheese altogether, it's instead topped with a very generous amount of roasted vegetables and houmous. This means it's soy-free as well as vegan - great news for those with allergies. Budget-friendly and moreish, you can't really go wrong with this product!
This reasonably priced pizza from Tesco is an excellent choice for a quick, satisfying meal or snack. The tomato base is topped with a coconut mozzarella alternative, spinach, garlic mushrooms, oregano, and parsley, providing a lot of bang for your buck!
The herbs give it an aromatic quality and you can really taste the punchy garlic. We love the mushrooms and spinach too - these make it feel somewhat healthy. This is a pizza you'll find yourself buying again and again!
We love this roasted tomato and basil delight from Whole Creations - it's a sophisticated take on a Margherita. Not only is it totally plant-based but it's gluten-free too, making it a tasty treat suitable for vegans and coeliacs alike.
The thin, crispy base combined with juicy slow-roasted cherry tomatoes, melty Sheese, and a herby dressing creates a yummy pizza that you won't want to share. While this isn't the most daring flavour on our list, sometimes it's best to keep things simple!
Here's a fantastic option for newbie vegans and those who still need to get their meaty fix! This deep pan pizza by Oumph! features succulent strips of soya protein, semi-dried tomatoes, and rocket, all dusted with seasoned breadcrumbs.
Delicious and satisfying, this stone-baked pizza tastes like it's straight from the pizzeria! If you're not keen on meat substitutes then this product probably won't appeal to you, but we think it makes plant-based eating exciting as well as easy.
Sometimes it can feel reassuring to find a simple vegan Margherita pizza, especially on a day when you may not fancy roasted vegetables or ambitious ingredients. This one definitely does the job!
The coconut-based mozzarella alternative tastes yummy and melts well, plus the addition of herbs like oregano and parsley really enhances the flavour. One of two Plant Chef branded products on our list, this is the more basic option but it's still a great choice!
Not only is this offering from Goodfella's inexpensive, it's also very popular with pizza connoisseurs. It has a thin and crispy base, making it perfect for a light lunch or a quick dinner.
Made with a spicy tomato sauce to heat things up, it's topped with falafel, red peppers, pan-fried onion, and spinach - plus a drizzle of houmous for good measure. This is a new take on pizza that's fun to try, but we weren't head over heels with the small size.
Possibly the naughtiest option on our list is this BBQ jackfruit pizza by Chicago Town. Sweet, sticky, and super saucy, this is the product to buy when you're feeling downright indulgent rather than trying to get your five a day.
There's enough jackfruit on top to create a good texture but not so much that it might put off those trying it for the first time. However, the sweetness of the tomato stuffed crust is slightly cloying and makes the pizza a little too stodgy overall. Save this one for excessive evenings only!
Whether you're a long-term vegan or recently converted, we can all do with a little food inspiration sometimes. Check out the articles below for even more great plant-based products to try!
Hopefully after reading our guide and top 10 list, you'll now be able to choose the best vegan pizza for your tastes and dietary requirements. Whether you're after a cheap, quick meal or something fancy to serve up at a dinner party, we're sure one of our recommendations will do the trick. Without meaning to sound too cheesy... have a slice day!
