When it comes to cross-stitch kits, Bothy Threads is probably the best-known brand - we just had to include them in our list! The quality of their kits is second to none with comprehensive and easy to read patterns, plus their top-notch threads won't ever snap or fray.

This "Rural Scene" set of 3 embroidery kits is really unusual but totally charming, plus it has a good range of different stitches for you to learn. The designs look really professional once finished, and as with some of our other recommendations, the ink on the pattern washes away in cold water so that you're left with a neat-looking image.

The kit also includes a diagram showing you how to do the different stitches, which is a really useful touch, and the pattern is easy to follow. Once again, however, this kit only includes one hoop so you may need to buy some more if you plan to work on more than one design at the same time.

This kit from Jecanori includes 3 different embroidery designs, all with a botanical theme, making it very on trend right now. The soft green and burnt orange shades are sophisticated and the floral patterns will look gorgeous on a plain white wall when framed.

Equipment-wise, this kit contains everything you need, so you'll be good to go as soon as it arrives! The only reason it's not higher in our ranking is that only one hoop is provided - this isn't much use if you want to work on all 3 designs simultaneously.

Dog lovers will go crazy for this stunning Springer Spaniel design! There are plenty of bold, beautiful colours used and YEPLIN promises that the vibrant threads won't fade over time. At 44cm in size, this project will be a decent challenge without being majorly daunting.

While the printed pattern on the fabric is useful, the instructions can sadly be difficult to understand - if you're totally new to cross-stitch you may need to seek extra guidance. Nevertheless, this is a good-quality kit that's worth investing time into!

The effect that the embroidery on this sea-themed kit creates is beautiful - it almost looks almost like a painting! The colours used are bold and very atmospheric, and the kit includes everything you need plus a couple of extra bits (like a thimble) to help you on your first steps into embroidery.

As this is a more detailed design, it may take you longer than you expect to complete - be aware of this if you struggle with keeping yourself motivated. It's definitely worth the effort though!

Everyone loves the cute chubby tabby that is Pusheen, and this mini kit with two cross-stitch patterns is totally adorable! They're really small in size and simple to follow, so even absolute beginners should be able to pull them off with ease. 

While the small size means these patterns shouldn't take long to finish, the pattern charts are also pretty tiny so you may need some patience to try and work them out. In addition, some of the colours are very similar, which makes it tricky to differentiate between them. For the low price though, this is a lovely little kit that's sure to appeal to Pusheen fans!

This kit is a good size if you want to do a spot of casual crafting but don't want to make a huge commitment. There are a range of different stitches involved, so you can expand your sewing repertoire whilst making something pretty!

This kit from YEPLINS has a super cute owl design in bright colours like pink, blue, and purple that we reckon kids will love. The pattern is printed directly on to the fabric and can then be removed by soaking the finished work in water - easy peasy!

Unfortunately, this kit only comes with the bare minimum in terms of equipment, so investing in additional equipment such as a hoop and a needle threader might make completing the cross-stitch more enjoyable. Still, it's not a bad kit for the price!
