Moreover, there are plenty of drainage holes in the bottom of the dish. This allows for water to drain faster, and therefore the dish to dry quicker. 

We can't state enough how much we love this terrazzo style soap dish! The design consists of hundreds of tiny chips of marble and granite set in polyresin. This is then smoothed off and polished to give this ancient-art inspired bathroom accessory.

Those who have already bought this dish attest to the high quality, which you would expect from John Lewis. We know it's missing some of the features that would earn it full marks, but the distinguished style undoubtedly earns it a place on the list.

This wall-mounted design is made from rust-resistant zinc alloy for a fresh chrome finish. The 'X' plate (the bit that fits onto the wall) has a screw-in attachment. However, the company claims it can also be glued to the wall if you're not to keen on making permanent holes. 

Frustratingly, this is another design with no drainage holes! Though as long as you are aware, then you can take the appropriate steps to make sure this isn't a problem. 

While not a household name, Umbra is somewhat of a big deal. Retailing in over 120 countries, they sell more than 2000 different home products, one of which is this clean and contemporary soap dish by industrial designer Tom Chung. 

The dish is of ample size for most average soap bars. However, while it's very modern and chic, we do think it lacks a little bit of character and doesn't have any drainage holes. 

This is a very traditional looking soap dish crafted from ceramic  with brass fixtures and holder, all with a chrome finish. This particular design reminds us of holidays in the Mediterranean, which isn't exactly a bad thing! 

Unfortunately, it's significantly more expensive than any of the others in our ranking. So you'll need to be really smitten with it if you're willing to spend that little bit more. 

This soap dish is designed by the Robert Welch company, one of the leading designers of British contemporary homeware. It's a great bathroom accessory with a soft square profile and simple, clean lines that will surely look at home in any bathroom or kitchen. 

One thing to be wary of is that the edges around the drainage holes may cut into softer soaps. So it could get a little messy in there, especially after your soap has had a few rinses under the tap.  

Our first product is a soap dish that uses a clipping mechanism to attach itself to your shower rail. The design is perfect for those that are short on space, plus thanks to the large drainage holes, you shouldn't have to worry too much about mould. 

The downside is that it can only be clipped onto rails that will fit snug within the 2.5cm diameter opening. Therefore, it won't be suitable for showers that don't have this specific size rail.
