It was difficult to choose between our top two recommendations, with the decision coming down to which represented the best value for money between the pillow and 2-in-1 kneelers. We've gone with the extra versatility and support of the Crystals folding 3-in-1 for our top spot.

For the price, this kneeler is just too difficult to beat in terms of value. The tool bag is a nice addition, but it's really the quality you get for the price that's surprising here; it does everything the Draper model can for half of the price.

Made out of the same materials as their great knee pads, and also available in the same wide range of colours, we think the Kneelo kneeler actually works much better as a pillow cushion, only narrowly missing out on our top spot.

It's easily transportable around the garden while being the perfect size to have plenty of space to kneel on, plus, the mixed layers of EVA and memory foam make it extremely comfortable to work on. It's even easy to clean, just wipe any dirt off and leave to dry!

If you're looking to garden on a budget, you really can't go wrong having a couple of these around the house. They may be cheap, but you'll be surprised at how tough and comfortable these mats actually are.

At this sort of price point, it really is worth picking up a couple of these just to try them out. You may have noticed that this is not the first budget option on our list, but we do think it is the most comfortable. It is also a more practical shape and size. 

Unlike the other Draper product on our list, this option is extremely sturdy, capable of comfortably supporting up to 125 kg in weight due to its strong tubular iron frame which neatly folds away when not in use. 

This kneeler is aimed more at the serious gardener as the premium price point actually represents good value to those who will use it regularly. It will stand up to high levels of use so is worth the investment if you plan on using it a lot.

There's honestly not a huge amount of difference between this item and the previous pair of knee pads on our list. These just edge out the Spear & Jackson offering for a few minor reasons, in addition to the appeal of their slightly lower price point.

If you're feeling bored of neutrals, you'll be pleased to know these are available in a wider range of colours and the EVA foam is a bit more comfortable than rubber when kneeling for longer. This pair also claims to have shock-absorbent technology for when you accidentally lump down on your knees.

If you're looking for a cheap option that doesn't take up any space, this simple mat will be right up your street. This is something that anyone with a garden should pick up just to have handy in a shed.

Obviously at a few pounds it is a budget option and won't win any awards for comfort or size, but if you're after something to add a little protection and comfort while in the garden, you can do a lot worse than this well-reviewed option from Green Blade. 

If you're looking for a durable pair of knee pads, this option from trustworthy manufacturer Spear & Jackson is a great option if you're spending any time on harder surfaces like gravel or pebbles.

The three-layer protection does what it sets out to do, but the rubber padding means that this product very much focuses on protection over comfort. That's not to say that these are uncomfortable, just that they aren't intended for spending a long time kneeling in one place.

There is a lot to like about this pillow-style kneeler from Bosmere; it has a waterproof underside, it comes in a wide variety of colours and it's made of EVA foam, so it's extremely comfortable to rest on for extended periods of time.

Although it is easy to take care of as it can be wiped clean and left to dry, it is expensive when compared to similar designs. If you're willing to pay a premium, you'll undoubtedly be receiving a great product, we're just not sure it represents the best value for money.

Draper are a well known and trusted brand when it comes to garden tools and equipment, and while this design has some issues it also has some very good points. For one, the internal storage compartment in the seat is great for keeping tools and other bits and bobs while working.

The main downside is the plastic doesn't quite feel as durable as a metal frame, meaning it doesn't offer the same level of support. The cushion is made of rubber meaning that, while waterproof, it really isn't the most comfortable to kneel on. It also feels quite narrow.

If you are just beginning to explore the joys of gardening, then this might be the kit for you. For a very reasonable price not only are you buying a 2-in-1 seat and garden kneeler, but you also have some of the basic gardening tools thrown in. With a mini rake and 2x trowels you will soon have planting underway, ready to reap the rewards of your hard work. 

Whilst this is a great set for beginners, it may be worth keeping in mind that part of this set is made from plastic and therefore may not stand the test of time as well as all-metal counterparts. Nevertheless, we think this is a great little set and would make a perfect gift.
