Last year, I discovered a new hobby: solo camping! I've always loved taking camping trips, but I'd never tried it on my own before. Turns out, camping alone can be a really enriching experience - the perfect way to get away from it all and have a mini adventure, even if you only visit a campsite a few miles from home!

If you're solo camping, it's pretty crucial to pack light, because you'll be carrying it all yourself. The last thing you want is to take multiple trips lugging all your camping gear from your car. The less you can take, the better. You don't need camping chairs and a fold-out table, or oodles of fancy camping cookware. A few basics and a picnic blanket are more than fine, and will save you carrying tons of gear back and forth. This guide contains all my must-have items for your first solo camping trip, to help you pack light, stay safe, and have the best time possible while you're getting back to nature.

Emily's Top 10 Books by Amazing Solo Female Travellers
Emily's Top 10 Books by Amazing Solo Female Travellers
When I was sixteen years old, I checked a book out of the library that genuinely changed my life. The book was Kira Salak's The Cruellest Journey - the story of a woman who kayaked the length of the Niger river solo - and it was the book that first made me want to become a travel writer.

A few weeks before, my grandad had given me a book by a male journalist about his travels in Africa. It was my first discovery of the travel writing genre and I was spellbound. I headed to the library in search of more, and checked out the only one I could see that had been written by a woman. Salak's story was a huge inspiration to me, and it set me on the road to where I am today, a full-time travel writer and blogger!

Since that day, I've always tried to seek out travel books written by women, especially women who travel solo. From Victorian adventurers to contemporary women taking on the most unimaginably difficult long-distance journeys, this list contains a few of my favourites.

Emily's Top 10 Gins Around England
Emily's Top 10 Gins Around England
Is there anything so quintessentially British as a G&T? We may not have invented the spirit (we have the Dutch to thank for that), but we did invent the cocktail - and we sure adopted the drink as our own!

The G&T was born in the British East India Company's army in the 1700's - and we're still drinking it some 300 years later! Tonic water was originally a way to give antimalarial quinine to British soldiers in India - but it tasted gross. So the soldiers started adding gin to the drink - along with lime and sugar - to make it more palatable. Trust a Brit to add booze to make the medicine go down!

Today there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of gin distillers in England. From independent business making small-batch artisanal gins, to large-scale producers that have worldwide names. So I've picked out a few of my favourites, to take you around the country in 10 gins. Some of these distilleries also offer tours, which is a great way to spend an afternoon when you're exploring a new area and the perfect way to learn a little more about my favourite drink.
